It is easy to be lazy and do nothing with your life- just sitting there and expecting to somehow get rich online and make money in your sleep without actually doing anything at all. But the reality is that you have to work for money.

You can either work hard for 40 years in a regular job or you can work smart online; but no one is going to just hand you a pile of money.

People often ask me for money – last week I had someone randomly approach me on a forum and ask; “I heard you made $12,000 last week – is that true?” I thought for awhile and then realized that it wouldn’t be too hard for him to find out if I lied to him as I regularly discuss how much I make; so I told him yes, yes I did. He asks; “Well could I have $6,200 please?”

When I said no he was actually outraged – “You have so much money, you make money online all the time, I don’t. Why wont you give me anything? PLEASE?”

You see, begging gets you no where. You need to get your ass into gear and make money happen for you. Four years ago I was so poor that my fridge contained nothing but an empty jar of peanut butter and an expired bottle of multivitamins.

One night, stomach growling, I decided to make money online. I wrote books, I made websites, I joined GPT sites.

Do the same, and I promise you’ll get there. Just don’t write to me begging for money.

If you’re feeling bored tonight and want to make money online for free, I’m going to list 10 ways that you can use to get started right now with zero investment – Enjoy.

1. Sign Up With A Good PTC/GPT Site

There are a few good GPT/PTC websites out there but the most trustworthy is Cashcrate. Sign up and you can make a few dollars here and there for free, and you can start right away! In a week GPT HQ will also be launching, as unfortunately it was delayed. (Refer to this post.) If you want bigger payouts then GPT HQ will be the way to go once it launches. (You can register your interest now.)

2. Create An AutoBlog With AdSense

Creating an Auto Blog will take you all of five minutes if you already know how, or alternatively if you don’t you can always grab the AutoBlog Guide – it’s only $5, or you can get it for free by completing a free offer (details on the site.) Adding Google AdSense is quick and easy, and with an Autoblog you constantly get fresh, new content – so you will earn money while you sleep. (You wont get rich unless you make 100 blogs all on popular topics, but it can be done. I know a guy making $100 a day from it currently.)

3. Write Or Rewrite A Few Articles

Writing articles for money is easy when you know how – all you have to do to find work is go to DP or Answernode and make a post in the forums to let everyone know you are looking for work. It’s free, fast, and relatively easy. You can make $12 to $20 an hour depending on how well you write and how fast you can get a job done.

4. Sell Old Accounts

People are often willing to pay money for different kinds of accounts – whether or not they are on forums, games, e-commerce, etc – there is always a market. A great way to start out is by selling a Torn City account or alternatively a Neopets account. (If you want a Neopets account you can get a good amount of money for, try using the Ultimate Neopets Guide – it does cost $5 – but you don’t need it, it just helps you get there fast. (It is worth the investment if you plan on doing this full time, or seriously, but if you just want some extra cash for the short term then don’t worry about it.)

5. Post In Rewarding Forums

Places like Answernode regularly give their members cash prizes for contributions to the forum. Lots of other forums do it, mostly without advertising it. (This way all members are still legitimate.) It is a great way to make money online if you are poor and have a few hours.

Money can buy happiness, and I am going to list 10 reasons why – some will be obvious, others not so much – enjoy!

1. Money = Less Stress
People who have plenty of money generally have less stress than people who are constantly worried about how they are going to pay their bills. This is especially true when you make money online, because you don’t have the same concerns as stockbrokers, for example. Knowing you can pay your bills lets you relax, and stress less.

2. Money = Better Health
When you have money you can afford to eat properly; you aren’t buying a 20 cent pack of supermarket brand noodles to eat for every meal like I used to do. Eating better makes you feel better about yourself and helps you live longer, plus if you work from home you have plenty of time to prepare a nice lunch in your own kitchen.

3. Money = Smarter Kids
Don’t get me wrong, I had always done it tough up until recently – I know that plenty of people who come from families in low income brackets can be incredibly intelligent; but with money you can buy your children countless books, and making money online from home means you are there to read to them too. There is also a wider choice of schools and hobbies, (chemistry sets don’t come cheap,) as well as the option of buying them a computer at a young age or hiring a private tutor.

4. Money = Love
No, money cant buy love – although it can buy sex, but that isn’t for this blog. The fact is being poor is a great test of a relationship at first, you fight, you struggle and you battle it out together; and if you last then that is great. However, money means that there is less stress in the relationship, you aren’t eating badly and cranky constantly; working from home on the internet also means you get to spend more time together. Of course, money also means that you can afford to do things together, be it weekends away or just buying a few new movies and getting some takeout for a nice night in with a good bottle of wine. Money helps love bloom, because it allows it a safe and stable atmosphere to grow in.

5. Money = Satisfaction
Money can satisfy us in many different ways; making money online is great because all the people who thought it was impossible are forced to look you in the eye and quietly acknowledge that they were wrong. My father was like that, he thought I was going to fail and move back home – last year for Christmas I spent over $2000 on gifts for my two sisters and my parents. He spent $70. That was the most satisfying experience of my life to date, because I knew from then on he could never criticize me again – even in a bad week I still earn a lot more than he does working full time, and I work from home in my pajamas (literally) for as little time as I want.

6. Money = Power
When I started making money online and was staying in a hotel back in my home city, I was underage – something everyone at the hotel knew because I made it clear when I told them I didn’t have a credit card to check in with and had to use cash. My first night I went to the bar and it was closing time, but they kept it open and they served me free drinks all night – needless to say I left a huge tip. When I woke up there was a nice bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label with my breakfast. Money makes people treat you well, especially when you return the favor.

7. Money = Fun
I have never had more fun than when I made money online for the first time – I took some and invested it, put some into savings for Christmas and then went out and bought myself a new PSP and a bunch of games and extras, as well as taking a week long holiday to visit my sisters. Money lets you buy things you want but don’t need, not only for you but for those you care about.

8. Money = The Joy Of Giving
Because I make money online and am free to travel, I make the most of it. When I heard my younger sister was about to start the new high school year and my mother couldn’t afford to buy her new clothes of school supplies I flew down and I bought her some great, ridiculously expensive stuff – her belt cost me $170. I then went and helped my mother load up on groceries. Helping others is one of the best ways to spend your money.

9. Money = Freedom
If you work from home and make money online you can drop everything at a moments notice. Want to get away for a month on the beach? Just go. Want to stop working for a month to try and write a novel? No worries. That is freedom.

10. Money = Happiness
Having almost unlimited money means that you can live the life that you want to live, whatever that may be. You can help the under privileged, see the world, do nothing and sleep all day – it is entirely up to you.

I would just like to note that love is more important than money to me; but I do appreciate how vital money is in having a good and happy life, and am very grateful to be able to make money online the way that I do.

Home Office

When you work from home and are caught up in the high stress, fast paced world of making money online, it can help to feel successful from the start, even if you’re not. Feeling successful will motivate you and you will perform better, and performing better means you make more money. Here are a few tips to make your home office the perfect setting for success.

1. Get A Good Desk

You will be spending all your time here, so it is important you are comfortable with your work space. If you can afford an old, heavy desk made of a dark wood, then that is ideal – but if not a cheap yet modern looking table can give you that office feeling.

2. Buy A Proper Chair

No half back office chairs from the 80s, and no chairs without wheels. A high back faux leather chair with arms is perfect; it is comfortable and it looks good. (Please don’t buy real leather, not only is it a waste of money on something you will be replacing, but also in a chair it really isn’t necessary.)

3. Get A Phone Line

A phone line in your home office is vital; you want to feel connected – you also don’t want to be pulled away while trying to make money online because your mother in law calls you to tell you a 20 minute story about what she had for lunch. Interruptions will happen when you work from home, so be prepared.

4. Get A Sitting Area

A simple couch and a cheap coffee table wont set you back much, and by adding a vase and flowers to the table it creates a great atmosphere in the room for you. You don’t need much space, but this will allow you to shift to the couch when taking the aforementioned call from the mother in law, creating a separation between work and break time.

5. Don’t Work In Your Pajamas

I know I’ve said before just how much I love working in my pajamas – and I do, they have puppies on them – but I always feel more motivated when I am dressed in clothes I wouldn’t mind being seen out in. Don’t be uncomfortable, but don’t be perfectly comfortable either – being laid back is fine most of the time, but when making money online you want to feel edgy, because you need to be mentally switched on at all times in order to succeed.

6. Decide Whether Or Not You Smoke

If you are a smoker you need to decide whether or not you will smoke in your home office. If you aren’t a heavy smoker then going outside, or at least into the main house, is the best idea to further separate breaks and work – however if you smoke a lot like myself you may want to consider getting a nice ashtray for your desk. Naturally smoking is bad for us, but we want to limit its negative effects on productivity.

7. Write It Down, Put It Up

Having ideas, notes, budgets, etc. on a pin up board will make you feel like you are achieving something – when the room is entirely empty you can easily feel like nothing had been accomplished because all the evidence is hidden away on your computer. Making money online leaves plenty of room to jot down various goals and stick them over your desk area.

8. Get A Waste Paper Bin

It sounds obvious, and yet many people who work at home don’t have a bin in their office – which means they are stuck either leaving rubbish around their work area, or else constantly returning to the main house to dispose of it.

9. Don’t Have Music

Music is great and all but you can’t have it in your home office – it slows you down, and making money online is often very highly dependent on the speed at which you can work, especially in the early days.

10. Buy A Bookshelf

Your home office will look and feel more professional if you have a bookshelf with some relevant books on it. There may not be that many books strictly surrounding making money online and working from home, but there are books about successful thinking and finance in general that will help your mindset on the matter

Launch

These days if you want to make money online, it is not vital to have your own website – but it sure does help! So today I’m going to be talking to you about how to launch your new website successfully.

1. Plan To Launch On Monday

A website that launches on a Monday or a Tuesday is always more successful from the start than a site launching later in the week. It is one of the simpler things you can do to make your website successful.

2. Don’t Launch Early

I know it is tempting to launch early and start making money online with your website right away, but it is a very bad idea. A rushed launch rarely works out well, and you will find issues that you need to go back and correct later.

3. Triple Check, Then Check Again

If you have spelling or grammatical errors your site will look unprofessional to your visitors – you want to check your entire site’s content at least four times before going live.

4. Check Your Site In 3 Different Browsers

Sites can show differently in different browsers, so it is best to view it in at least three before your launch. I would suggest Firefox, Safari and either Chrome or Internet Explorer.

5. Promote, Promote, Promote!

In the month leading up to your launch you will want to be promoting your website as much as possible. Post in forums, build up a list of high PR blogs to comment on with your link, issue a free press release – none of it will cost you a cent but you will see plenty of interest, (and traffic,) as a result.

6. Manually Submit

Manually submit your website to Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc – don’t use an auto submitter for these big search engines.

7. Make Sure Your Layout Doesn’t Hurt People’s Eyes

I know this sounds obvious, but the number of sites I see with white text on a black background, or red text on black, is astounding. If you want your site to make money online you need people to read it without getting a headache. No matter how “trendy” it might look to have fancy colors, black text on a white, or very light, background is the only way to go.

8. Seek Advice

Getting advice from people who have experience in your industry is vital if you want to work at home and make money online just by using your website – it has to be the best it can be, and for that to happen you must be willing to ask questions.

9. Don’t Cover It In Ads

At the start you want the most of one ad per page on your website – too many will look unprofessional and make people think you are desperate for money, which, even if you are, is not a good look.

10. Be Willing To Suck Up

I personally don’t do this, however I know many people who do and if I launch any big projects in the near future I might get into it as well – but buying gifts or sending vouchers to people who have well read, well respected websites and blogs in your industry will get you everywhere. It might be a bit dodgy, sucking up to other people – but these people have an audience, and you want that audience to become yours.

Money Minded

To be successful and keep your motivation levels up there is a certain mindset you should subscribe to – learning how to think and certain little tricks to help you make money online is a very worth while practice.

Here are some tips and tricks to help you become successful and make money online.

1. Stop Watching TV – The average household watches TV for 3000 hours a year; a 40 hour a week job only uses up 2000 hours a year. Use this time to invest in your efforts towards making money online and working from home. It will be well worth it in the end.

2. Visualize Your Goals – Imaging your achievable goals coming to fruition is a great motivation technique and can inspire you to work harder. I personally used to use this technique when I knew my partner and I would run out of food or cigarettes before the next pay day; then I’d put my head down, work hard, and make money online to buy us groceries.

3. Save Money - Buying home brand snacks and cheap coffee will save you thousands of dollars a year, money that you can use to invest in a business, or advertising; both of which can help you make money online while working at home around your family.

4. Learn To Listen - Knowing what people want will let you give it to them. Providing such a service is vital in gaining and keeping your customers. In fact, this post is because I listen to my readers; several of whom wanted a list like this to help them make money online.

5. Be Passionate - Getting excited about your work is one of the greatest things you can do. You will triple your productivity, which can be hard when working at home and relying on just your own motivation to keep you going. Don’t be ashamed to get passionate.

6. Be Positive - Be positive; negativity slows you down. Take a moment, and tell yourself “I can do this.” – Because you CAN.

7. Simplify Things – Don’t make things harder than they need to be when it comes to making money online. Go with the flow and take it from there.

8. Don’t Be A Victim - Your poor? You cant afford to feed your family? Your roof is leaking? Don’t be a victim. Suck it up and get to work making money online. I was in that situation. My fridge has nothing but a half empty bottle of tomato sauce in it, my family was starving and the roof was leaking over my head where I slept – I would wake up drenched when it rained over night. You need to use that to feed your motivation; use it to inspire you to make money online, then use that money for your family.

9. Don’t Care What People Say - Other people will tell you that you can’t make money online, or that you are going about it the wrong way – but there is no wrong way, just wrong people. Do what feels right to you – if we didn’t try new things life would be boring and we would all fail miserably. Who thought that LolCats would be a million dollar website? Not the naysayers.

10. Commit To It 110% - Committing to your plans to make money online is vital; do not back down and do not be prepared to fail. This is 80% of your battle right here – you need to stay strong if you want to work from home, at least in the beginning.

Traffic

Ok, so you’ve read my other posts and decided you want your own site/blog – you’ve got Adsense on it, or it’s affiliatized – but how do you start getting traffic?

I’m going to share some of my methods with you and hope you will apply them to your projects.

1) Yahoo Answers

Yahoo Answers is a great way to advertise; providing you don’t spam. Say for example your topic is modifying a car; do a search there and you’ll find lots of people who are interested in what you want to say. Answer their question properly, don’t just copy and paste and spam – and include a link to your site in the source section only. If you don’t spam your answer will stay on the site for all time, which will provide timeless traffic as Yahoo Answers regularly comes up in the top 5 for any common Google searches.

2) Answerbag

The exact same deal as Yahoo Answers, but the more sites you post on the better.

3) Fun Advice

One more like the above two; these three sites can be your core source of relevant and interested traffic.

4) Helium, Associated Content and eHow

Writing articles will get you a backlink on a good PR (page ranked) website and help people find you when using search engines – if your article is good it can also help establish your credibility as an authority in your chosen field.

5) Giveaways

You don’t have to give away prizes or money to draw people in; consider a free ebook – it lets people know that you appreciate them; and it will keep them coming back. Much like how I’m posting this list for free, sharing my marketing tactics – it may no seem like much but people will like it, and when they use it they will think of this website – your free ebook giveaway can do the exact same thing for you.

6) Forums

Using the car modification example; you can easily find many forums dedicated to your topic(s) – become a member and contribute, while having a link back to your site in your signature.

7) Digg It

Submit your best posts to Digg, and if they’re well written people will Digg them; this can net you a lot of fabulous traffic, so long as you dont try to abuse the system by posting a link to every single one of your blogs.

8) Get a Newsletter

Give people the option of signing up for a weekly, fortnightly or monthly email – just never spam them and always make it easy for them to opt out. This will remind them that your site interested them previously and may well be worth a return visit.

9) Host relevant videos and images

Is your blog or website about travel? Include pictures and videos about the destinations you’re discussing, local landmarks, etc. You will be found frequently in search engines this way.

10) Comment On Blogs

Leave relevant comments on all of your favorite blogs, including a link to your blog if given the option. Don’t spam and always leave appropriate comments. If the blog is “do follow”, (find out more about that in Google,) then you will be building up valuable backlinks for your page.

As this blog was only submitted to Google recently it isn’t yet indexed and has no page rank, however when it does I will accept all comments with link, provided they aren’t spam. :)

1. Write Your Own eBook

2. Become A Professional Full Time Gamer

(We are planning an article on this as a way to make money online in the future, but for now you can always check out the Games To Money Guide; it costs $5 but so far it has been incredibly useful for our research.)

3. Create An AutoBlog

(This Auto Blog Guide can help you get set up even if you don’t have your own website, it’s a great way to make money online for free, plus it is a fully automated system. We are currently experimenting with 5 auto blogs and plan an update in the coming week.)

4. Start A Regular Blog

(If you can write about things that interest you, like me with making money online for free, you will gain a following. Just offer people a service for free, in this case help and advice about working from home, and they will visit you time and time and time again, at which point you can start selling ad space on your pages.)

5. Try Affiliate Marketing

(Check out our article on Affiliate Marketing For Beginners if you need some help getting started; it can be overwhelming at first but in my first week experimenting with it I made over $600 and my only investment was a domain name and some cheap hosting for my new site.)

6. Google AdSense

(This should be used on your blog, your forum, your news page – whatever. Signing up for Google Adsense is one of the smartest things anyone who publishes content online can do, as it is a great way to make free money online using content you are giving away for free.)

7. Invest In A Legitimate Program

(It can be hard to find ways to make money online that aren’t scams these days, so we suggest taking a look at Work At Home Report – it has a list of different ways to work from home and make money on the internet alongside reviews of how much you can really expect to make. It also warns you of known scam websites to avoid.)

8. Take Paid Surveys

(Some let you make money online for free and some will only pay you 20 cents an hour – it pays to do your research. You should read our post on Paid Surveys to get a better idea of what to look for in a paid survey company.)

9. Get Paid To Write

(Not all webmasters have the time to write all their content themselves, so they give you a new way to make money online – just provide them with some interesting content and get paid to do it. You can find people looking to hire writers or advertise your services for free at the Answernode Webmaster Forums.)

10. Learn To Use eBay

(If you take a look at our post about using eBay with dropshipping you can get a pretty good idea about how the whole thing works. It is a good way to start out because besides a few small listing fees it is a free way to make money online.)

Money Online

Motivation

1. When you make money online you get to work from home; meaning you can work whatever hours you like, even in the middle of the night. (Personally I do most of my work between 8 PM and 8 AM.)
2. You can wear whatever you want, which in my case is a pain of pink cotton Pajamas with puppy dogs on them. (This is seriously what I wear while working most days.)
3. You can drop everything at a moments notice to do, well, pretty much anything!
4. Making money online is considered a pipe dream by people who don’t know how to do it, so it makes you seem smart, successful and interesting.
5. The amount of money you can make by working online is almost unlimited; unlike a regular job where you have a set number of hours at a set rate. That means when you need more money you can simply put in a few more hours.
6. You never have to report to a boss again, or deal with colleagues you don’t like.
7. Working online is a very stable way to make money; I made more at the height of the recession then I did at any time leading up to it.
8. A lot of the work you do will end up becoming second nature to you, meaning you can easily listen to music or even have a movie on in the background while you are working.
9. You can travel whenever you like and make money online wherever you are; I regularly visit my family interstate and while there spent time with them during the day then take a few hours each evening to get some of my work done.
10. There is no feeling like having large amounts of disposable income created from nothing; that is what I specialize in. The picture for this post is a new slim PSP 3000 with three games and a 2GB memory card, although I later went back about bought three more games. It took me three days of making money online to afford that, a trip to see my family for a week and I still had money left over.
