It is easy to be lazy and do nothing with your life- just sitting there and expecting to somehow get rich online and make money in your sleep without actually doing anything at all. But the reality is that you have to work for money.

You can either work hard for 40 years in a regular job or you can work smart online; but no one is going to just hand you a pile of money.

People often ask me for money – last week I had someone randomly approach me on a forum and ask; “I heard you made $12,000 last week – is that true?” I thought for awhile and then realized that it wouldn’t be too hard for him to find out if I lied to him as I regularly discuss how much I make; so I told him yes, yes I did. He asks; “Well could I have $6,200 please?”

When I said no he was actually outraged – “You have so much money, you make money online all the time, I don’t. Why wont you give me anything? PLEASE?”

You see, begging gets you no where. You need to get your ass into gear and make money happen for you. Four years ago I was so poor that my fridge contained nothing but an empty jar of peanut butter and an expired bottle of multivitamins.

One night, stomach growling, I decided to make money online. I wrote books, I made websites, I joined GPT sites.

Do the same, and I promise you’ll get there. Just don’t write to me begging for money.

Money Q & A

Does my website need a good page rank to make money? It’s 0.

Actually Alex, no, you don’t need a good PR to have a profitable website at all. In fact, two of my most successful websites had, and to the best of my knowledge still have, a page rank of zero. My main business has a PR of 2, which may not be great, but it is still a highly successful site that makes money. PR is good, but it isn’t the defining factor when it comes to making money.

How can I get traffic to my site? I get only one or two visitors a day.

Traffic comes from promotion, one or two hits a day makes me think you haven’t read my article on how to get free traffic; I suggest you take a look at that and use some of the tips, such as making the most of social bookmarking websites and getting some free advertising from AdWords and Facebook.

What do you think the best affiliate program is?

Without a doubt the best affiliate program in terms of letting you make money online is Clickbank – the payouts are higher then most other affiliate programs. They pay by check for the first three months, but after that you can opt for bank deposit. They are the only affiliate site that I still use today, and I’ve tried them all.

Money Q & A

This will be a new addition to the website; the chance to write in and get advice, ask questions, etc. – all the normal Agony Aunt type stuff, only about how to make money online. I plan to post these weekly or fortnightly depending on the response. For this post I will be using questions I have had asked of me recently, but if you want to ask your own question you can do so in the comment section. (If you don’t want your comment published, just say so somewhere in the text.)

I feel very positive about this whole thing, as I want to help motivate you and teach you to make money online; then one day when you are successful maybe you will pass this stuff on, or maybe you will just turn to a newbie and say; “Hey, go check out I Earn More Than You – it’s what got me started!” – let’s get going.

How come you don’t have any affiliate links on your blog? You talk about making money online with clickbank and affiliate marketing, but your blog doesn’t have any affiliate links.

I make up to $300 from affiliate marketing on auto pilot some days; I just don’t do it here – the reason is that this blog is honestly meant to help people, such as yourself, learn how to make money online. I don’t want to sell you anything and I don’t want this blog getting a reputation for being another affiliate website posing as a legitimate service. I keep my money making websites far away from this site because I’m not selling anything here, I’m just out to share what I know.

Is it really possible to make money online? Like do you have a normal job?

Hi Sarah,

Yes it is possible to work from home and be successful, and make money online to the point you do not need a normal job. This is all I do; in fact I have never had a “normal job” in all my life. Every cent that I have ever earned has been on the internet – so I know it’s possible. You just have to sink your teeth into it, bite down hard, and refuse to let go until you are successful. Persistence pays off – if you aren’t making any money online at all, I would recommend reading through some of the articles on this site and finding a free way to make money online and get cracking!

How did you make your first dollar online?

Hi Megan,

I get asked this all the time. I first made money online through a GPT and PTC website, I forget the name but it closed down a long time ago. I made $30, then I moved on to writing articles, where I averaged around $150 on a slow week, or up to $600 on a good week. Then I started at affiliate marketing, where I made $890 in three days and decided it was how I wanted to make money online.

Now I do a whole host of different things, which you can read about in various articles on the blog, as well as in future posts. If you haven’t made any money online yet consider trying GPTHQ – they launch at the end of this month and look a lot more promising than the GPT / PTC website I started out on.
